and the activity would be to have the students write an expository prompt about their idea of the ultimate halloween party
Although the picture is cute, I don't think it's enough of a motivator for this prompt. I think students could have written on this prompt without the picture. To improve this lesson plan idea, I would suggest having students view a picture of a really BORING Halloween party. Once the students start voicing their opinions about the stupid party in the picture, then you might could have them write about how they would spruce up the party.
